Recently, I had the privilege of attending a Kamayan, a traditional Filipino banquet, to raise money for affordable housing for Filipino senior citizens located in the Seattle area.
At a Kamayan, the food is served on banana leaves without any utensils, inviting interaction with your tablemates – which was lucky for me as I was sitting across the table from someone visiting from Somalia.
Over dinner, we talked about all sorts of topics and eventually, I asked her how she ended up taking this prolonged vacation to the United States.
Without hesitation, she answered, “I needed a booster shot.”
She must have seen the look of confusion on my face indicating that I thought she needed an actual vaccinationof some sort because she quickly went on to explain that after having lived in Somalia for several years, she was having trouble viewing the complex issues she faced in her profession with fresh eyes and she was becoming a little complacent in her work. In other words, she was beginning to find herself in a bit of a rut; hence, the need for a booster shot – a reboot, so to speak.
As I listened to her speak, it dawned on me that everyone – not just NGO employees in foreign countries –could benefit from a professional “booster shot” from time to time. For those working in the field of Medicaid eligibility and reimbursement, like myself, viewing an issue with a fresh set of eyes, or from another perspective, can reveal a solution that was lying just beneath the surface all along – whether it’s involves a spend-down, the creation of a Qualified Income Trust, or obtaining a Guardian of Estate to assist in obtaining the necessary verifications.
At Burgeon Legal Group, we strive to provide the necessary “booster shots” that our clients need to get cases moving toward recovery. Together, we help our clients and their teams view cases with fresh eyes and provide innovative, creative solutions to pursue Medicaid eligibility and payment.
So, if you have an account that you feel could use a booster shot, pass it along! We are happy to provide the boost!
